Why stay with us?

Location under Prague Castle
Unique design of architect Borek Sipek
Summer terrace with the castle view

The renowned Neruda Street in Mala Strana - during the day, is a busy street swarming with foreign tourists marching up the hill to the Prague Castle. In the evenings, this site turns into a romantic oasis of peace and quiet.

The reception will be happy to loan a book to you from the famous Czech writer and poet Jan Neruda, from whom the hotel gets it´s name. He spent most of his life in Mala Strana and wrote the magic Malostranske povidky (Stories from Lesser Town). The book is available for loan in several languages and is also available to buy. You can lose yourself in this book and blend in with the spirit of the 19th century, when the book was written.

The Hotel Neruda is located at the very top end of Neruda Street, directly below Prague Castle. From the outside it represents a complex of three interconnected adjacent historic buildings, the interiors of the hotel look like a labyrinth of corridors and secret hideaways. In the corridors are old wooden chests, imitation windows with old handmade shutters that when opened reveal a wall and some of the floors in the middle of the hotel are paved with cobblestones. You will be accompanied by Jan Neruda´s portraits and excerpts from his books on the hotel walls. You have to be careful not to get lost in this labyrinth.

One of three interconnected buildings even dates back to the 15th century, when you are falling asleep at night and looking up at the old beams supporting the ceiling, it is as if you have gone back in time. Old elements are nicely blended with modern design designed by leading Czech designer Borek Sipek. His typical glass decoration and lighting is used throughout the hotel.

The hotel offers two types of accommodation, each in a different part of the connected buildings. The Standard rooms are tastefully furnished, but because the facilities are several years old, the rooms are undergoing gradual renovation. You can read excerpts from Neruda´s poems that are placed on the walls.

The Superior rooms blend a touch of history with modern concepts. There are hundred year old beams supporting high ceilings, the special charm of the rooms is accompanied with glass bathrooms and glass accessories, both consisting of the unmistakable signature of the designer Borek Sipek. The bath is often found in the middle of room, but of course, there is also a traditional shower corner. Each room has its own characteristics and is unique.

From your window you can watch swarming crowds of tourists, while enjoying the stay and peace of one of the most attractive locations. In the morning, the beautiful melodies of an old violinist, which is an integral part of the walk to Prague Castle, will flow directly through your windows.

The Metropolitan restaurant offers a delicious menu focused on French cuisine. The menu is not extensive, but everyone will find something delicious. The staff are very friendly and will do everything you desire. It's actually a small family business, ran by a future father-in-law and son-in-law.

Professionalism and evoking a pleasant atmosphere are in first place for them. All dishes are very light and well prepared. Upon request, they will also prepare food that is not on the menu, if that´s what you have a taste for. The taste of the dishes will be enhanced by a bottle of good wine, with which, you will be given professional advice on your choice.

The beautiful rooftop terrace is a real advantage, which offers comfortable seating and a view of Prague Castle, which as the crow lies just a few metres away. From spring to autumn, the terrace is open from early morning till late into the evening. Romantic dining is again illustrated by the sound of a violin. If the weather is unpleasant, you can enjoy the culinary delights of the local chef directly in the restaurant, which is located in the lit atrium of the hotel. The atrium has a glass roof, so you feel like you are sitting outside.

Breakfast is served in a simple form, in a buffet style. Upon request, they are happy to add any ingredients that you feel are missing.

It is a hotel with very friendly staff and pleasant service, of which I like to remember. The location is really amazing. You are left thinking, that the crowds of tourists will surely envy how close you are to everywhere. Directly below our window, the sound of the violins conjure up a smile on my face in morning.

After a day running through Prague I really appreciated the private spa with a Finnish sauna, cooling pool and whirlpool.

Rooms with high ceilings and beams are somewhat cooler, but there is electric heating available, which you can use at anytime.

I was pleasantly surprised by loan service of Neruda´s books. At least, anyone can see that this hotel doesn´t carry its name without a reason.
